GL Events recently hired two students graduated from the course. As a course sponsor for 2008-2009, why did you hire them and what positions did they get?

Robin Institute course offers a good preparation to event management positions.

As a sponsor for a year, I’ve noticed 2 young talents which ones could potentially fit with 2 profiles we were looking for.

This is the reason why we finally hired Akim ARIBI as a Junior Project Manager. Akim was immediately part of the team in charge of the Football World Cup organization in South Africa. Akim will then move to India to prepare the Commonwealth games.

Marylin CAMEL was the second person hired to organize specific healthcare oriented congresses. This is quite different from Akim’s activities but as crucial with regards to the relationship with healthcare specialists.

We hired them for their personalities, their potential and their motivation in investing themselves on a long term basis to be part of GL Events group development.

What are the Human Resources Director’s expectations in hiring a young Project Manager today?

HRD’s expectations are pretty simple and clear. We are looking for strong, outgoing personalities. Applicants will have to be able to adapt themselves to many different situations, and to challenge themselves all the time. Appetite for field work is an asset.

Applicants will also have to be good team players. He or she will have to learn on a permanent basis.

Event if I have been part of the course since the beginning in 2000, that year as a sponsor was a particular year for me. I could have been more present in finding work placement. I could also help our students in making the right choice for their professional career.

I was delighted to be chosen as a sponsor, after Jean-Eudes RABUT and before Paul MARCADE. It was a big responsibility given by Jean-Pierre CEDRIN. I really enjoyed sharing experiences with him since the beginning and I thank him for his trust.

I want to keep in mind the good atmosphere and spirit there was all along the course.

That year was also a very sad year as Delphine passed away suddenly in November. That was dramatic and our students managed to get closer facing that tragedy.
